South Florida Video Production Company (servicing Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach County) covering a very close Florida Governor’s Race pitting the incumbent, Rick Scott against his challenger, Former Governor Charlie Crist. Adding to what is already a hotly contested race, is a “fan” controversy that has both campaign camps accusing each other of unfair practices. Our Fort Lauderdale remote uplink studio welcomed criminal defense attorney, Mark Eiglarsh to debate the legal issue(s) involved in this bizarre incident. Mark was live on Fox News’ The Kelly File discussing the issue and giving his unique perspective on it.
At the center of the controversy, is a small electric fan that Governor Crist had placed below his podium. According to the Scott campaign, this violated the “no electronics rule.” The debate’s moderator, CBS4 local news anchor, Elliott Rodriguez, then informed the audience that Governor Scott would not be participating in the debate. He explained that Crist requested to have the fan placed underneath the podium, but that Rick Scott’s campaign showed him the agreement saying that there should be no fan. The audience booed very loudly after hearing that Scott would not debate Crist. Eventually Scott did show up to the debate, about 6 minutes or so late.
Florida voters will go to the polls on Tuesday, November 4th to cast their ballots for the state’s next governor. A just released poll Quinnipac University has the two contestants tied in a dead heat, with both getting 42% of the vote.
